The evaporation of the water led to the clouds that now surround Venus, trapping heat on the planet and raising the temperature to its extremely high levels.

Other people believe that, considering the size of the universe, there must be at least one other planet where life has arisen, even if it is not in Earth’s solar system. As of 2019, NASA has found more than 30 Earth-like planets, which it calls “Goldilocks planets” because they are just the right distance from a sun to potentially support life. However, these planets have only been seen through telescopes; probes would need to be sent to determine whether they support any life. Even if aliens were found living on one of these planets, they may never meet people from Earth. In science fiction stories, aliens attack Earth, perform experiments on people, or sometimes try to reach out peacefully. In reality, the incredibly large size of the universe makes it difficult to even see into the deeper regions of space, much less travel through it. Carl Sagan pointed out that because of the distance between Earth and the nearest potentially inhabited planet, a civilization would have to be at least 1 million years old to evolve intelligent life, create working spaceships, and travel all the way to Earth’s solar system.
